Query: Could you tell me what to experience through various Meditation
Techniques, from Taoist standpoint without Religion in the
background.
Vijay
Kumar: Before delving into the bottomless pit of Meditation I would like
to clarify and discuss upon Religion and Spirituality at large.
What do we mean when we talk of Religion?
Just before the time when Bhagwan Mahavira descended on
Mother Earth to become a man God in his lifetime... how did the humanity exist before that as there was no
Religion at all before the times of Mahavira. Gautama Buddha had not yet come, and so did Jesus Christ. It
was another 700 years to go before Prophet Mohammed would be born.
If the Spiritual masters of the day belonging to various Religions proclaim that their
Religion was the best and only to be followed... where were they when the humanity survived even before the likes
of Bhagwan Mahavira, Jesus Christ and prophet Mohammed were even born. They have got to be wrong... they must have
a vested interest in proclaiming their Religion to be the best.
Jainism flowered after the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism took birth...
Bhagwan Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara precipitated the cosmic wisdom to the masses. Until the 23rd
Tirthankara, Lord Parshvanath... the fragrance of the cosmic wisdom could not be spread to the masses and was
limited to the Tirthankars, the Arihantas and the Acharyas (Spiritual teachers) of the times.
The followers of Bhagwan Mahavira are known as following Jainism
Religion. It is a different fact that Jainism is not a Religion and it is primarily a way of life. This is
also confirmed from the fact that the followers of Mahavira are not known as following Mahavirism. They are
known as the followers of Jainism... the definition of Jainism I shall take up later.
Buddhism is primarily the essence of the teachings of Gautama Buddha. The
followers of Sidhartha Gautama are supposed to be following the Buddhism Religion. Everything contained in
Buddhism is always related to the teachings of Sidhartha Gautama. The teachings of Gautama Buddha are also
termed as the middle path... neither following too austere paths which is difficult to follow and not getting
totally involved in the household affairs.
Following the middle path is what Gautama Buddha preached if one desired
to crossover the ocean of Samsara (the life cycle of 8.4 million manifestations) and achieve Salvation in
this life. Buddhism spread around the globe only after Sidhartha Gautama took birth learnt of the cosmic
wisdom and achieved monk hood.
Christianity is a faith the followers of which comprise of believers in
Jesus Christ. Those who consider Jesus Christ as the son of God... whose teachings form the primary content
of the Bible... and the following of whom is termed as Christianity. Before Jesus Christ came there was
nothing we could call Christianity. Christianity took its roots only after Jesus Christ was born on Mother
Earth.
The followers of prophet Mohammed are called Islamists. The teachings of
prophet Mohammed are primarily summarized in Koran and his following termed as the followers of Islamic
Dharma nay Religion. Islamic teachings are primarily focused on prophet Mohammed. Islamic Dharma spread only
after the advent of prophet Mohammed... not before!
Jainism, Buddhism, Christianity and Islamic Dharma are normally
considered as Religions... all Religions do have a central focus in them. Jainism has Bhagwan Mahavira,
Buddhism has Sidhartha Gautama, Christianity has Jesus Christ and the Islamic Dharma prophet
Mohammed.
What when all four of these man gods did not exist! Say about a thousand years before the advent of Bhagwan
Mahavira came Lord Krishna, the
Avatar. The followers of Lord Krishna are not termed as the followers of Hinduism. Not at all. What when
even Lord Krishna had not yet incarnated. Even then say around 3600 years before from now the humanity survived
without a Religion... how?
Now, I would explain the complete cosmic structure...
As the animal life started to evolve into Human Beings... the most
initial of Human Beings just behaved like animals. There was no family structure or science to guide them.
Nothing had yet evolved... it was only thousands of years later the Human Beings slowly started to realize
that they were distinctly different from the animals. They somehow realized that they had something that we
call as thinking power.
Using this faculty... the human race started to evolve faster. There was something that guided these Human Beings
in the absence of any Religion. What was it? It was Dharma... "Your right to do what is just and right and not what
was destined"... God Almighty, directly dictated this definition of Dharma to me. Our right to live... do what is
just and right... and following the dictates within... the dictates of our atman the soul within is what we term as
Dharma... the guide of total humanity in the vast expanse of Cosmos!
It was Dharma that guided Lord Krishna in his journey when Pandavas
declared their famous battle against Kauravas... the battle of Dharma in the Kurukshetra region (which
presently lies in Haryana state of India). A fight to the finish in which truth would prevail in the end!
Pandavas who were right in their war against Adharma ultimately won... but only with the help of Lord
Krishna, the Avatar.
It was not that Lord Krishna favored Pandavas... as destiny would have
it, everything which belonged to Lord Krishna was initially offered to Kauravas. But the blind always remains
a blind... when Lord Krishna asked of Kauravas what they desired of him out of his total possessions which
consisted of his army and lord Krishna himself ... they opted for the total army of Lord Krishna to be with
them. Lord Krishna said, "Amen". Kauravas failed to realize that it was their sheer bad thinking due to which
Lord Krishna himself
was made available to Pandavas.
With Lord Krishna himself guiding the Pandavas... how could it be that the total army of Lord Krishna would make
Kauravas win the battle.
Now, what when even Lord Krishna had not yet incarnated. Even then people
lived and survived without any Religion. Bhagwan Rama came around 1500 years earlier to Lord Krishna. Dharma
still existed but unknown to mankind! It was this time that the four Vedas were made available to the
humanity by God Almighty. and what are these four Vedas... the Rig Veda, Sama Veda, Yajur Veda and Atharva
Veda!
All these four documents are the first scriptural documents... the Sacred
teachings made available to mankind by God Almighty. There is nothing beyond them. When I say nothing means
nothing! No record in history or any human being on Mother Earth can prove otherwise!
These four Vedas comprise of the total teachings which are contained in the total sacred Scriptures of all
Religions of the world... there is nothing to be learnt or known beyond them. These voluminous documents were never
meant for the common masses. Even if one tried to read through them one could not have understood them (if I say
read through them... I am wrong for the Lipi nay alphabets had not yet evolved). They were the core of all
fundamental teachings that were available to mankind at that time.
There had to be some wise man that could understand these voluminous
Scriptural documents. As time passed by one sage after another tried to digest the contents therein. And were
produced the
Upanishads... the various Upanishads are treatises by different sages elaborating on different
topics. Further on Upanishads later!
Initially the four elaborate Vedas and then a series of Upanishads... the
humanity got lost. What to follow and what not. Who is going to explain to them the total content... the
abstract at one go. The various sages themselves took years to salvage the contents and learn of the inner
cosmic wisdom... what if they left their mortal frame even before the contents... the commentary could be
made available to mankind.
The mankind was thirsty for the cosmic wisdom... the basic fabric of the society had broken down... it was anarchy
all over... something had to be done, the prime system on which based the total humanity was getting disordered.
and God Almighty made Lord Krishna incarnate on Mother Earth. What a miracle! A godly person has descended on
Mother Earth to set the system in order. Wow! The humanity could feel the waves in the air. Lord Krishna even as a
child had godly powers. One miracle after another was to be observed by the masses.
The meaning was clear to them... they now were in the company of one who
had the potential to destroy all Adharma (sins) prevailing on Mother Earth and start Satyuga the golden era!
Came the war of Mahabharata fought between Pandavas and Kauravas and Lord Krishna got his opportunity to
preach Bhagavad Gita to King Arjuna. Lord Krishna knew King Arjuna was the only human being present on Mother
Earth who alone would be able to digest the teachings of Bhagavad Gita. There was no other human being of the
same capability as King Arjuna.
The teachings of Bhagavad Gita imparted to King Arjuna form the core
teachings of what is contained in the four Vedas and all the Upanishads combined. If one were to understand
the Bhagavad Gita in its entirety... the purpose of this mortal frame would immediately cease... one would
gain enlightenment (God Realization) the very moment and subsequently Salvation Moksha. Came the Bhagavad
Gita and the necessity of understanding the core teachings of the four Vedas and the Upanishads vanished.
Why?
If one knew the Bhagavad Gita in its entirety... there was nothing more left to learn in the four Vedas and the
Upanishads. Ever since Bhagavad Gita exists on Mother Earth one need not run after any Religion dogma or faith...
the knower of Bhagavad Gita becomes the knower of Brahman (God Almighty aka Karta, ParmAtman soul, Prabhu in
Hinduism). The knower of Brahman becomes a man god like Bhagwan Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ and prophet
Mohammed. They all emaciated and took Salvation within their lifetime.
Whenever one desires drinking fresh juice... the juicer man picks up four
ripe oranges and puts them in the juicer machine and what we have... the extract... the Bhagavad Gita! Lord
Krishna did the same to the Vedas. The teachings of Bhagavad Gita are extremely simple to understand provided
one really wants to! There is nothing at all to be known in this world other than what is contained in
Bhagavad Gita.
If Bhagavad Gita can be stated as containing hundred percent truth then
Jainism consists of 80%, Buddhism 70%, Christianity 60% and Islamic Dharma 50%. Not that Jainism consists of
20 per cent impurities but in essence out of the total teachings of Bhagavad Gita, Bhagwan Mahavira
propagated rather concentrated on 80% teachings. Similarly, Gautama Buddha concentrated and imparted 70% of
what is contained in Bhagavad Gita. Jesus Christ and prophet Mohammed imparted 60% and 50% respectively (so
as to say) of what is contained in Bhagavad Gita.
Nothing contained in the doctrines of Jainism, Buddhism, Christianity and Islamic Dharma bear any untruthful
statements. All is pure. The impurities get mixed up when different preachers amalgamate their own teachings along
with the sacred Scriptures. The common masses are simply required to assess the wrong from the right which is not
very difficult to do as the small inner voice coming from within (the voice of Atman, the soul within) always
prompts us and guides us on the right path.
It is the power of discrimination which every human being possesses...
the power of Atman that makes every human being a unique representative of God on Mother Earth. Every
individual human being has the power to become a man god... to become Bhagwan Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus
Christ or prophet Mohammed!
Here I need to explain the term Vedas more explicitly. The term Veda in
Hinduism means "the spoken word". As Lipi (alphabets) had not yet evolved... the preaching's of the sacred
Scriptures were passed on from one Spiritual master to another through Veda, the spoken word. Everything was
verbal... the total communication. It was a really difficult time to assimilate the complete teachings of the
Vedas mentally as nothing was available in written form. Vedas... all the four Vedas were the direct
dictation of God to one of the sages who could have understood there meaning. This was the first step by God
Almighty Creator in passing on the cosmic wisdom to mankind.
Who was the first sage who invoked the power of the Vedas is not known to anybody. Even in Hinduism or the Bhagavad
Gita there is no mention of the sage who invoked the Vedas initially... the starting point! It is not of much
importance but to assimilate the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita is more important for the mankind at large. It was
only around the second century that Lipi (alphabets) developed and everything which was being communicated
verbally... passed on from one Spiritual master to another was reduced to writing.
We now have a large collection of Upanishads, the four Vedas, the sacred Bhagavad
Gita and various commentaries on Bhagavad Gita available to mankind at large. It was in 1993 that
the moment I Realized God... whatever was contained in the four Vedas, the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita and
all the sacred Scriptures existing on Mother Earth entered my head the same day. Through the power of Shruti
I can invoke the complete cosmic wisdom from the reservoir of Mind Plus.
Does it mean that if all the copies of the Vedas, the Upanishads, the
Bhagavad Gita, Bible, Koran, the doctrines of Jainism and Buddhism get destroyed... yes, as a god realized
person I have the power to invoke the complete cosmic wisdom from the reservoir of Mind Plus through the
power of Shruti and reproduce every document... a real achievement indeed! I am so grateful to God for having
bestowed upon me this grace of being able to understand the inner meaning of Bhagavad Gita even without
having read through the document once.
Whatever quote I am making from Bhagavad Gita is not based on something I have read through Bhagavad Gita or the
Vedas. All these documents are like an open book to me. I do not need to refer to any sacred Scripture to know of
the underlying truth. Having come face-to-face with God Almighty... the sun in its cosmic glory... I have lost all
interest in the power of a candle or a bulb.
So now it is clear that Dharma forms the core... the sustenance of total
mankind. Dharma is directly governed by our atman the soul within. It inherently is always available to every
human being nay every Jiva (living being) come whatever may. But, the cosmic wisdom of the Vedas, the
Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads and the Scriptures of the various Religions is only available to mankind and
not the lower forms... the form of an animal, the plant life, the insect life, the multiple cell formations
and the amoeba itself (a single cell formation).
Every living being including the animals, plants, insects are governed by
Dharma. Religion is a creation of mankind. Practically speaking as many Human Beings... as many chains of
thoughts exist! Whenever the following is large it gets converted into a Religion.
Now I shall explain the fundamental behind the word Religion. Why Religion exists at all... any Religion whatsoever
it may be or its teachings... everything is meant to guide the physical mortal frame... so that the physical life
passes through a smooth phase. The 70 to 80 years life span of every human being is primarily guided by Religion.
Only if one wants to dive deep into the inner self then one is required to follow the Bhagavad Gita... the followers of Bhagavad Gita
are not related to any Religion but they are considered to be the followers of pure Spirituality... those who are
the seekers of truth... the absolute truth... on which relies the very existence of every human being!
Spirituality is not the least related to Religion. Spirituality means
diving deep into the inner realms of cosmic wisdom... the inner truth. It is the study of cosmic journey...
the cosmic life itself... the journey of 8.4 million manifestations and a total cosmic life cycle of 96.4
million years that every atman soul has to pass through. Spirituality... the study of Bhagavad Gita imparts
to us the study... the knowledge about our real inner self... our atman the soul within. Those who need to
know everything about the soul and the cosmic life itself must study Bhagavad Gita... only one document
contains everything any human being needs to know for being able to gain enlightenment (God Realization) and
finally Salvation Moksha.
Bhagavad Gita guides us as to how to perform Karma, the meaning of Yoga,
the atman soul and the Brahman, the interwoven connection between the vast terminology of Spirituality. The
meaning of Swarga Heaven, Naraka hell, the differentiation between knowledge (the bookish knowledge) and the
cosmic wisdom (the true words of Jnana), the different aspects of life like happiness suffering and Bliss and
how to cross over the threshold of earthly journey is but a tiny drop in the vast ocean we know as Bhagavad
Gita.
Practically speaking Religion guides us on the physical plane... the earthly abode of 70 to 80 years of physical
manifested life... contrary to this Spirituality guides us about the total cosmic journey every atman the soul
within has to take ... the journey of 8.4 million manifestations and 96.4 lengthy earthly years after which there
is nothing else left for atman the soul within but to come back to its cosmic glory. All dross having removed from
atman the soul within one gains immortality... there is no comeback... there is no further manifestation for this
Atman for it has purified back to its initially stage.
This is when it is stated in Hinduism that it goes back to Baikunth, the
abode of God. Here I would like to explain something about Baikunth... the relationship between God Almighty
Creator (Brahman) and atman the soul within.
When I was a child my father used to give me different puzzles. I was
fascinated when I used to disassemble and again assemble them. Pieces of cardboard but yet relaying a very
deep inner meaning! I subsequently realized that every individual piece of the puzzle is an independent atman
the soul within and the total puzzle is what we call God Almighty (the Brahman himself). At the time of the Big Bang (the
beginning of the cosmos) when God Almighty splits with its cosmic fury ... all Atmans (the soul within) get
scattered all over the Cosmos... the complete bigger puzzle is not destroyed but scattered.
Slowly as time passed by one Atman soul after another gains enlightenment
and comes back to its original pristine glory... it rejoins the greater puzzle (the Baikunth) and starts the
reassembling of God Almighty (the bigger puzzle as a whole). More and more Atmans souls gain immortality and
join the greater puzzle. A day comes when the puzzle gets completed... it is the time for the dissolution
(pralaya in Hinduism). The whole Cosmos will again dissolve and become the size of half a thumb... the
combined positive power of all purified Atmans souls together.
This positive power... the size of half a thumb... God Almighty Creator
as we may call it again explodes with a Big Bang... the mighty power cannot sustain itself... one can imagine
the total Cosmos within half the size of a thumb... and again starts a new Cosmos... a new beginning... new
galaxies, stars, solar systems and finally the evolution of an earthly system where
Atmans souls can manifest.
A new journey not for the mankind for in the new system it may be
possible that Cobras are the highest manifestation... and it is as Cobras that one gains emancipation and
finally Salvation Moksha... it is but possible that human form may comprise of an interim stage in the total
cosmic life span. We may start life as an amoeba, then an animal, then a human being, then a plant and
finally evolving into a cobra to emaciate and achieve Salvation Moksha.
Having explained the terms Religion and Spirituality in detail, now I shall elaborate upon the meaning of
Meditation and its importance in daily life.
